First United Methodist Church Announcements


In order to be good stewards of God’s gifts, and in light of our current budget crisis, we have discontinued the cleaning service that we have had to clean our church. We are looking for volunteers that would be willing to do “light cleaning”, such as dusting, emptying garbage, sweeping the carpets, and wet and dry mop tile floors. If you would like to volunteer for any of these items, please call the church office. A list of jobs has been placed in the narthex for the week. Volunteers, please check off the jobs as they are completed.

 

United Methodist Women -  NUT ORDERS--Cashews, Pecans, and mixed nuts.           Orders due November 12th, pick up date December 6th.

            DISHCLOTHS--are available at $1.00 each.

            RADA PRODUCTS--available. Catalog can be found on the table in the narthex.

 

CHARGE CONFERENCE - Worship, prayer, and business: Steel Valley Cooperative      Parish at Follansbee UMC, November 17th at 6:30 PM.

NOW THAT TIME HAS CHANGED - The Weirton Fire Department asked that we           remind everyone that this is a good time to remember to change batteries in    smoke             and carbon monoxide detectors, and any other life saving devices. Make        this a habit!

 

COMMUNITY BREAD BASKET WEEKEND -  November 7 & 8. First Church is collecting GRAVY for 120 families for this year’s Thanksgiving and Christmas   baskets. It is needed by November 16th. A collection box can be found in the   narthex. Thanks for your generosity.



First United Methodist Church is in covenant with the Community Bread Basket along with other churches in the area.  In addition to volunteers to help out, we collect food items for their pantry.  The Finance Committee has recommended that we take up a monetary offering each quarter to benefit the Bread Basket so that they can continue to reach out others in need.  Please use the special offering envelope this Sunday and mark for the Community Bread Basket
